Let me express my absolute adoration for this book! I was introduced to Tuli through "Trial of the Sun Queen" in 2023, making it my favorite series of the year. Naturally, when the opportunity arose to read an advance copy of her latest novel, I eagerly seized it.
This book encapsulates everything you could desire in an adult romantsy: a slow-burning tension, spicy scenes that seamlessly integrate with the plot, the theme of found family, the triumph over emotional traumas, and an array of plot twists that just scratch the surface.
Without divulging any spoilers, one of the major plot twists blindsided me. Usually, I can spot a twist from a mile away, so this unexpected turn was a breath of fresh air. The development of Rabin and Zarya's relationship, coupled with Zarya's personal growth, provided an enjoyable and engaging narrative.
While the ending left me yearning for more, I anticipated a cliffhanger similar to the one in the first book. However, this slight deviation doesn't diminish my overall rating with is without a doubt 5 stars!
The pacing of the novel was impeccable, ensuring there was never a dull moment in the plot. The interactions felt natural, not rushed, and were entirely plausible within the context of character development, emotions, and the challenges faced by the protagonists.
